Fairy Tale Time

Picture this...  it's late afternoon.  We've been traveling all day long and have seen some amazing things.  But it's getting late and we're getting tired.  As we drove down the road alongside the Rhine, I could see out of the corner of my eye that Sonja had just about had enough for one day.

"I think I've had enough of this road." I said.  She looked over just as I took a left turn and headed from the highway up a long steep road.  "Where're we going?" she asked and I just threw out something to the effect of "I dunno, let's see what's up here."

Of course, I knew our residence for the evening was up this hill.  Surprise!!!

Burg Liebenstein

Remember about all those castles?  Well, tonight we're staying in one!

Oh, how can I describe Sonja's reaction...  hmmm.  Amusement?  Surprised?  Shocked?  Let me tell you this way.  It was one of the few times I have ever heard that word come out of her mouth.  "Are you f'ng kidding me?"

Yeah, I scored!

This is what disbelief looks like.

And I will remember this moment forever...

View from up there wasn't too shabby.

I guess there's no elevators in castles, huh?  And we have 3 suitcases???

Inside Our Room

When we got up in the morning, we were served an unbelievable breakfast in a setting right out of a fairy tale.

And of course I needed my Mel Gibson moment.
